"While Armenian hostages remain imprisoned in Baku, their voices must continue to reach those with the power to act."

Our Mission

Answering Propaganda with Research

The 1,000 Book Initiative provides Members of Congress, Executive Branch officials, universities, think tanks, and libraries with professionally prepared Congressional Briefing Packages — combining historical research, legal analysis, primary source materials, and published works.

The objective is not to persuade through slogans, but to give decision-makers documented evidence, historical context, and careful analysis so that policy affecting Armenia and the South Caucasus can be informed by a fuller understanding of the issues.

Why This Campaign Matters

Two developments demand a response

1

A campaign of historical revision

Azerbaijan promotes the concept of "Western Azerbaijan" — a doctrine casting the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia as land subject to a future "right of return," now a visible part of its foreign policy.

2

Hostages who cannot speak for themselves

Armenian prisoners, civilian hostages, and former officials of Artsakh remain imprisoned in Baku. Unable to advocate for themselves, they depend on others to keep the facts before policymakers.

Frequently Asked

The title commemorates the continued imprisonment of Armenian hostages in Baku. While these individuals cannot speak publicly for themselves, their experiences should continue to be represented before America's policymakers. As long as they remain imprisoned, the initiative will keep expanding.
